Diary of a Burk
December 24, 2007
We put all sorts of baby items in Brittany’s parents’ stockings to announce the expecting baby. We think it’s a great way to surprise them.
December 25
Mom thought all the baby lotion, powder, and shampoo was for her. Then the pacifier and an explanation from dad clued her in and the screams of joy came.
We’re headed off to Puerto Rico with the BYU swim team.

We get to watch the swim team swim A LOT! We had a blast in Puerto Rico.
February 2
Curtis interviews for a new job at the Capital building as a financial manager.
February 18
Curtis announces he needs more professional clothing and that we’re moving to Salt Lake for his new job.
April 5
Today we asked Curt’s parents if we could stay with them for only a few weeks while we search for a home.
April 27
Brittany graduates from BYU in elementary teaching.
May 31
Brittany is finally done teaching the fourth grade after a year. We went out to celebrate.
June 1
Brittany didn’t realize how much she would miss her students or team.
July 15
Things they teach you in birth class
Before you go to the hospital your contractions should be equally 5 minutes apart and you should not be able to talk through the contractions. Breathing is very important
July 21
Everyone thinks the baby will come any moment. Brittany is currently dilated 2 cm and 90% effaced.
August 5
The baby’s due date is today. Still no baby. The doctor even said that he could feel the baby’s ear and that she was 3 cm dilated now.
August 8
Curtis is very excited to go wakeboarding tomorrow. He’s been talking about it all day. He has only been a couple times this year and can’t wait.
Things they should teach you in birth class: You may be in denial that your contractions are 5 minutes apart and that you’re really in that much pain. Curtis didn’ get to go wakeboarding today.
August 10
We finally realize that our beautiful baby girl was born yesterday. We named her Alexia Delyn Burk. We like to call her Lexi.
August 12
How long are we going to be this tired?
September 1
We finally find a home in Murray and move out of Curt’s parents’. How long did we tell them we would be there? Note to self: Don’t try moving with a newborn.
October 12
Today we learned that the base of the car seat adjusts. Our first child is going to have it rough, it’s like she’s an experiment.
October 31
We went to a ward Halloween party and Alexia dressed up as a horse. Everyone kept asking us what she was.
November 2
Alexia was blessed today. Brittany’s brother, Derek, was able to be there from Arizona.
November 18
In response to August 12th’s entry it looks like a little while longer.
December 9
Lexi got her ears pierced. Curtis said afterwards, “I made sure I wasn’t there, they sure are cute.” With her losing her hair it really helps her look like a darling little girl.
December 20
Time to update family and friends with Diary of a Burk…Until next year

Boating Trip
Lexi has had a lot of encounters with the water lately. We recently took her boating so she could watch her Mama and Papa wakeboard. I must say, she was dang cute in that lifejacket of hers. Curtis has been improving at his wakeboarding, we only wish he could have gone more this summer. I bet he would have gotten his flip down.

Our labor day weekend
We had fun over labor day weekend. We visited parents, took Lexi to church, and went to the park.

Our daughter Lexi
Alexia Delyn Burk (she is named after both of her grandmas, Frances DeAnn Davis and Kathlyn Burk) was born August 9th, 2008. She just barely missed the 8-8-08 and went with the 8-9-08 instead. Curt and I are thinking that we'll have to convice her that her favorite number is 9. She was born on the 9th at 9:11pm, she weighed 7 lbs 9 oz, she was 19 inches long, and she was born in room 9.
We are adjusting to being parents, we have a lot to learn. Lexi isbeautiful and we are so happy to have her in our family. Our dog Cydni is alittle jealous but it is going great. Our little family is growing and we couldn't be happier.
Corey also has a few things about the day Lexi was born on his blog along with some pics if you would like to visit. His link is located under Corey & Jill to the right.

Curt's Garden
Curtis has been working on his garden very hard. He cleared out an area in his parent's backyard to plant a small garden. Him and Cydni watch how it is growing everyday. He is just so proud of his garden. Because we will be living in a condo with no yard of our own Curtis is hoping he can still plant a garden at his parents next year.
The garden is really doing well. Curtis, Jeff, and Matt were crying of the hot peppers his garden produced at our family campout. It was very amuzing to watch their eyes tear up and faces turn red.
The family campout was a success. We were a little nervous when they announced that the campout would be in the backyard this year. I prefer the beautiful mountains, but it worked out great. The kids really seemed to love it and everyone got to see our little Lexi. Then to top it off we were able to sleep in our room, it made it much easier with the newborn and recovering.
